Uhuru," derived from Swahili, serves as the embodiment of freedom in this swimwear collection. The pieces pay homage to and draw inspiration from Ethiopian tilet, a distinctive motif in Ethiopian clothing that is handmade in Ethiopia's weaving communities for centuries. With a made-to-measure and a fit-to-size approach. A distinctive tilet print was crafted using a digital printing process that employs heat and pressure to adorn recycled polyester married with locally sourced nylon fabric.
Uhuru, is a manifestation of creative freedom, emerging from a nurturing space where each piece meets the sun for the first time. It marks the birth of Abshir’s inaugural capsule swimwear collection.
